Spring Maintenance Checklist

Spring is here! As the days get longer, a pop of green and some flowers can breathe new life into a home. Here’s a handy list of things to think about as the days warm up!

  • Change your furnace filter (monthly)

  • Check grading around the house to make sure it moves melted snow/water away from foundation

  • Inspect siding and exterior paint – repair damage and touch up paint where needed

  • Replace storm windows with screens, or wash screens that remained in place during winter months

  • Power wash siding, decks, and driveways to remove winter grime and mold

  • Remove debris and ice dams from gutters and secure downspouts

  • Early Spring planting

  • Rake leaves left in yard from last year (or mulch leaves into the lawn)

  • Inspect outdoor faucets and hoses – look for freeze damage before using them

  • Inspect decks and patios – inspect for loose boards, nails, or cracks

  • Test smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors

  • Drain your water heater (good idea to do once a year)

  • Tune up lawn mower

  • Clean and set up patio furniture – wash and inspect for damage

  • Service your air conditioning system – schedule HVAC maintenance before warm weather

  • Adjust your thermostat
