Spring Maintenance Checklist
Spring is here! As the days get longer, a pop of green and some flowers can breathe new life into a home. Here’s a handy list of things to think about as the days warm up!
Change your furnace filter (monthly)
Check grading around the house to make sure it moves melted snow/water away from foundation
Inspect siding and exterior paint – repair damage and touch up paint where needed
Replace storm windows with screens, or wash screens that remained in place during winter months
Power wash siding, decks, and driveways to remove winter grime and mold
Remove debris and ice dams from gutters and secure downspouts
Early Spring planting
Rake leaves left in yard from last year (or mulch leaves into the lawn)
Inspect outdoor faucets and hoses – look for freeze damage before using them
Inspect decks and patios – inspect for loose boards, nails, or cracks
Test smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors
Drain your water heater (good idea to do once a year)
Tune up lawn mower
Clean and set up patio furniture – wash and inspect for damage
Service your air conditioning system – schedule HVAC maintenance before warm weather
Adjust your thermostat
